Nanopore detector is considered as a promising candidate for the third generation DNA sequencer for $1000 genome. Tremendous progresses have been made for improving the sensitivity of nanopore sensors toward this goal. Nonetheless, there are still several profound and intrinsic challenges for achieving this goal. One is to prepare electrical probes with single-base resolution. The other is to control the too-fast DNA translocation motion in a nanopore during electrophoresis. In Kawai Lab supported by FIRST project, we have explored several potential strategies, such as gate manipulating, thermophoresis and graphene nanopores to address the above challenges. |
